Środa Śląska is a major city in the Średzki District, whose population amounts to almost 50,000 inhabitants. Undoubtedly, the commune's advantage is its location in the vicinity of major routes as well as within the Wrocław Agglomeration (30 kilometres from Wrocław). The commune is situated at the junction of major routes. Its additional advantage is the connection with A4 motorway and international railway line E-30 (Wrocław - Zgorzelec - Dresden).
Several thriving companies with foreign capital operate in the commune's area. The most significant ones include Röben Ceramika Budowlana Spółka z o.o., Armacell Poland Spółka z o. o., Vibracoustic Polska Spółka z o.o., Gotec Polska Spółka z o.o. The commune wants to encourage investors through various facilities such as tax reductions, including complete exemption from local taxes for investors creating new jobs, or formal and legal aid in administrative procedures.
The existing Subzone of Środa Śląska has been expanded to an adjacent territory of an area of 11.04 ha. The property belongs to the company managing the Zone (LSSE S.A.). It is located by an internal road servicing the Subzone and has access to all basic utilities. The site is designed in a local zoning plan for industry and services (Resolutions of the Commune and Town Council in Środa Śląska No. IX/68/03 as of 30 Apr 2003 and No. XXVII/234/09 as of 28 Jan 2009).
